Reese Witherspoon returns to rom-com in first “Home Again” trailer
In addition to her more dramatic roles, Reese Witherspoon used to be known for her starring parts in romantic comedies. While she has been away from the genre a while, concentrating on things like her latest excellent turn in HBO miniseries “Big Little Lies”, fans of that old Witherspoon can rejoice with the trailer for “Home Again”, a rom-com with Witherspoon in the lead.
The film stars Witherspoon as Alice Kinney, a woman recently separated from her husband and not thinking too highly of herself at the moment. But that begins to change when she lets three aspiring filmmakers stay in her guest house, and at least two of them fall in love with her.
The ever-charming actress also has ample support in terms of her co-stars -- Pico Alexander, Nat Wolff, Jon Rudnitsky, Michael Sheen, Candice Bergen and Lake Bell.
“Home Again” is written and directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer, the daughter of Nancy Meyers (who serves as a producer on the film). Nancy Meyers is a rom-com veteran, having directed hits like “The Parent Trap”, “Something's Gotta Give”, “The Holiday”, and “It's Complicated”. Her second film, “What Women Want”, was at one point the most successful film ever directed by a woman.
“Home Again” is scheduled to hit theatres on September 8, 2017.
