Suchitra Sen's birth anniversary observed in Pabna
Legendary film actress Suchitra Sen was recalled in her home district on Thursday marking her 86th birth anniversary, through several programs organised by different organizations.

The 'Suchitra Sen Sangrahashala' (collection of memorabilia) was inaugurated, fulfilling a long-cherished demand of the people of Pabna.
Additional deputy commissioner Ruhul Amin chaired the programme while prominent educationalist Professor Md. Kamruzzaman, journalist Abdul Matin Khan, secretary of Suchitra Sen Smrity Shanrakhhan Parishad Proloy Chaki spoke, among others.
“We have officially opened the Sangrahashala at the house of Suchitra Sen, with various portraits of Suchitra Sen and her family members. There are also many photographs of the films of Sen.” Ruhul Amin, the ADC said. He added that although the initiative is at a small level now, they have big plans to enrich the place with precious works and memory of Suchitra Sen.
Although the Sangrahashala was officially inaugirated on Thursday, it will be opened for the people from April 10, the ADC added.
A discussion and film festival, organised by the Suchitra Sen Chalachitra Shangshad was held at the Pabna Press Club on the same occasion. President of the organisation, Jakir Hossain chaired the programme while renowned cultural activists Gonesh Das, Firoz Khandaker, Rezaul Karim Moni and Dr. Sarwar Jahan Fayez spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Suchitra Sen Smrity Shangrakhhan Parishad organised a discussion and cake-cutting ceremony at the Annoda Gobinda Public Library on the same occasion. Vice president off the organisation Dr. Ram Dulal Bhoumik chaired the programme.
The speakers in different programs focused the artistic excellence of Suchitra's performance in films. “Suchitra Sen, through her lovely performance touched the heart of the audience, and her performance is still alive to the audience,” the speakers said.
Suchira Sen was born on April, 6, 1931 at Bangabari of Sirajganj. She passed her early life in Gopalpur Hem Sagor Len in Pabna town. Th legendary film actress died on January 17, 2014 in Kolkata due to old age complication.
