“Dhono Dhanno Puspo Bhora” gets festival call-up
“Dhono Dhanno Puspo Bhora” (English title “True False & A Revolution”), a documentary film on the historical Agartala case and the mass upsurge of 1969, has been invited to participate at three international film festivals.
The film, directed by Farid Ahmad, will travel to the fourth edition of Al-Nahj International Film Festival 2018, to be held from April 1 to 5 in Karbala, Iraq. It has been also selected at the competition section of the inaugural South Asian Short Film Festival 2018, organised by the Federation of Film Societies of India. The festival will be held on from March 30 to April 8, 2018 in Kolkata, India.
“Dhono Dhanno Puspo Bhora” was also recently selected at the San Mauro International Film Festival, Italy as a semi finalist, according to a press release.
Farid Ahmad received a grant to make this short documentary film when the Bangladesh government in 2012 started funding short films to promote young filmmakers of Bangladesh. This is the first documentary film which was made with government grant.
The film was also invited by DocWok India, a tutoring and mentoring programme in South Asia for documentaries which are in production stages. There the film got yearlong mentoring support.
The documentary tells the true story behind The Agartala Case, popularly called Agartala Conspiracy Case, which had set a course in the history of Bangladesh's independence struggle.
