“Bangladesh in Frames 8” begins tomorrow
The eighth edition of “Bangladesh in Frames”, the annual photography exhibit of photographic community Through The Lens: Bangladesh (TTLBD) begins tomorrow at the capital's Drik Gallery.
A total of 110 photographs will be on display at the three-day exhibition, by 105 photographers. Alongside amateur creative photographers, a number of internationally-recognised photographers including Shehzad Noorani, Abir Abdullah, Saud Al Faisal, Vineet Vohra, Rohit Vohra, KM Asad, Rahul Talukdar, Pronov Ghosh and Ata Adnan will exhibit their photos.
Pioneering portrait photographer of the country Nasir Ali Mamun will inaugurate the exhibition, which will remain open from 3pm-8pm until March 26.
TTLBD was formed on web-based photographers' social network Flickr in 2007, by a group of enthusiastic amateur photographers. The community grew in size and scope, as members started to meet to share skills and experiences, and eventually the group also organised workshops and trainings.
TTLBD now organises monthly photowalks and 'safari', where members travel to various places of the country together to take photos. It has become a formidable platform for photographers to explore and showcase their artistry with the camera. TTL organises an annual photography competition titled “out of the Box”, which is followed by handing out of awards and an exhibition.
