Syed Haq memorial held in M'singh
Bangladesh Abritti Samonoy Parishad, Dhaka remembered the brilliant contribution of poet Shamsul Syed Haq to Bangla literature, at a programme held at Muslim Institute of Mymensingh town Friday evening.
Shabda Abritti Charcha Kendra Mymensingh assisted the event.
The programme included discussion on life and work of Syed Haq, and recitation from his poetry.
The artistes of Shabda Abritti Charcha Kendra and others took part in the poetry recitation session.
Poet Amjad Dulon, Rubina Azad, Saimul Haque, Kamrul Haque and Mousumi Raha took part in the recitation session, among others.
Earlier, Bahurpi Natya Sangstha secretary Shahadat Hossain Khan Hilu, poet Farid Ahmed Dulal, Yazdani Quraishy Kajol and journalist Neamul Kabir Sajal took part in a discussion. Joydev Saha, president of Shabda Abritti Charcha Kendra, presided over the event.
The speakers said in many of his writings, Syed Haq depicted the real picture of human life and the true history of the War of Liberation.
Shamsul Haq made a great contribution to Bangla literature and his demise is an irreparable loss, they said.
The speakers also remembered the popular writings of the poet, like “Payer Awaj Pawa Jay”, “Nuroldiner Sara Jibon”, “Stobdhotar Onubad”, “Nishiddho Loban”, “Stobdhotar Onubad”, “Ekoda Ek Rajjey”, “Khelaram Khele Ja” and “Ek Mahilar Chhobi” and so on.
Bikkhon, a weekly study circle of Mymensingh Sahitya Sangsad also dedicated its 1700th session to the Shamsul Haq on Friday. The circle organised a discussion at its office on the bank of Old Brahmaputra River on Friday. The day's programme also included poetry recitation by the prominent poets of the district.
