Rajshahi International Film Festival ends
A four-day long International Film Festival including Bangladeshi and Indian films ended in Rajshahi last week.
Rajshahi Film Society and Rajshahi University Film Society jointly organised the 'Second Rajshahi International Film Festival-2018'.
Language movement veteran and Freedom Fighter Abul Hossain inaugurated the festival at Lalon Shah Mukto Moncho as the chief guest.
The festival screened forty Bangladeshi and Indian films at four venues -- Rajshahi University Shaheed Sukhoranjan Samaddar Teacher Student Cultural Centre (TSCC), Talaimari Shaheed Minar Mukto Moncho and Lalon Shah Mukto Moncho (Borokuthi).
Khandaker Suman, a director of film “Ongoj”, was awarded Best director in the festival, while the director of “The Rebel of Mind”, Shahriar Chayan achieved Best Cinematography award. Meanwhile Tanzina Tasnim, of “The Funeral” was awarded with Special Jury Award in the festival.
On the other hand, 21 directors from the festival were honoured with crests. The organisers also honoured Siliguri Cine Society of India and Rainbow Film Society of Bangladesh for their contribution to the film scene.
Prominent litterateur Hasan Azizul Haque was present as the chief guest in the closing ceremony and handed over the awards to the directors at RU TSCC.
Film director Fakhrul Arefeen Khan's “Bhuban Majhi”, Morshedul Islam's “Ankhi of Tar Bondhura” and Akram Khan's “Khacha” were screened on the closing day.
The first edition of Rajshahi International Film Festival was held in March last year. More than 73 films from home and abroad were screened in that festival.
