Nrityanandan's Bharatnatyam workshop begins today at Shilpakala
To promote classical dance in Bangladesh, noted dance school Nrityanandan started its journey in the early ' 90s. Over the years, the school that follows the guru-shishya parampara, has attained excellence in creating an aesthetic dance style. Holding regular dance workshops, Nrityanandan is diffusing the practice of classical dance genres in Bangladesh. Last year, the school arranged a Manipuri dance workshop, conducted by eminent guru Kalavati Devi, along with a scintillating display of the dance event “Jagoi Pareng”.
This time the troupe, in association with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), has organised a Bharatnatyam workshop today (January 29) at National Music and Dance Centre Rehearsal Room of BSA. Eminent Indian Bharatnatyam Guru C. V. Chandrasekhar is conducting the workshop while noted Indian artiste Rajdeep Banerjee is assisting him.
The workshop will continue till February 5. At the end of the workshop, a Bharatnatyam dance show titled “Kanak Manjury” will take place at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum at 6:30pm on February 6. Guru C.V. Chandrasekhar also conducted a three-day (January 26-28) long residential workshop at Savar, Dhaka where 15 Bangladeshi senior artistes took part. A four- day (January 22-25) dance practice session was also held at BSA where Rajdeep Banerjee conducted the session.
