“Celebration of Bangladesh” in Washington
The Bangladesh Embassy in the USA held a colourful programme on Thursday at Bangabandhu Auditorium at the Embassy in Washington DC in partnership with the Embassy Series and Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) America, according to a press release.
Dancers and singers from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, supported by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, presented the show. Local dance troupe from Srishtee Nrittyangan, a dance academy of Washington DC, also joined the performance.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Mohammad Ziauddin, speaking at the event, said Bangladesh expresses its deep gratitude to the international community, particularly to the conscientious people and government of the United of Sates of America for their strong support for Dhaka for hosting millions of forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals. He said that despite constraints, the people of Bangladesh are extending all-out support to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her efforts to ease the pain and sufferings of Myanmar nationals who have fled and are fleeing the atrocities of the Myanmar government.
Ted Hart, President of the CAF America and Jeromy Barry of the Embassy Series also spoke at the “Celebration of Bangladesh” programme.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, foreign diplomats, senior officials of the US Department of State, Department of Justice, Bangladesh government, representatives from CAF, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky, and members of the Bengali diaspora attended the function.
