Bodies That Think
A dance workshop titled “Bodies That Think” is set to be held at the Conference Room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy later this month.
The workshop will be organised by prominent dance school Shadhona, ITI and Kissa Kahini, on June 16 from 10am to 2pm.
The workshop will comprise insights in and around a number of materials, focusing on topics such as: the history of dance from being a colonial subject to being an artistic endeavour; dance as a language; dance as a structured movement system; dancers are the new researchers and how do we research dance.
Further information on the workshop can be found on the Facebook event: Workshop on 'Bodies That Think'.
Sumedha Bhattacharyya, an ICCR-empanelled Kathak dancer, will conduct the workshop. Sumedha is currently pursuing her Masters in Dance Knowledge, Practice and Heritage under Erasmus Mundus in Norway, France, Hungary and the UK, the only Indian to be selected in the programme on full scholarship. She is also an avid photographer and painter, and tries to incorporate these skills in her work to create interdisciplinary performances.
