‘Arrest those involved in campus violence’
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today instructed police and civil administration to arrest all involved in violence at educational institutions without considering their political affiliations.
Her directive came four days after a deadly clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League – the ruling Awami League’s student wing -- at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology which left a BCL activist dead.
“Arrest those involved in violence at educational institutions. Don’t wait for orders from high-ups,” Hasina said while talking to the officers from cabinet division.
The premier, during the meeting, spoke to divisional and police commissioners of Rajshahi and Sylhet through video conference. She also spoke to deputy commissioners and police superintendents of Molvibazar and Pabna.
She also learned about the recent law and order situation and development and communication status of the respective areas.
Hasina, also the chief of ruling Awami League, will conduct two video conferences within a month, cabinet sources said.
