Multimedia organisation Drik will organise a fundraising event for the Gaza people through sales of paintings, photographs and other items in an effort to stand by the victims of the Israeli attacks.
Titled "Appeal for Gaza", the event will be held at Drik gallery at Dhanmondi in the capital.
"Lives are being lost, dreams are being shattered and futures are being destroyed. We no longer have time to merely talk. It is time for action. We appeal to all conscious citizens to stand with us in solidarity. The time is now," the organisation said on its website.
Eminent artists Qayyum Chowdhury, Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, Monirul Islam, Mustafa Monowar, Syed Jahangir and Jamal Ahmed, among others, have donated their paintings for this noble cause.
Photographers whose works will be available for sale include Shahidul Alam, Abir Abdullah, Munaem Wasif, Taslima Akhter and Saiful Huq.
A number of handy, low-cost products will also be available so as to enable people from all walks of life to contribute. The event will also feature readings and discussions on the cause of Palestinian freedom.
The three-day event will be inaugurated at 6:00pm on August 18 and continue from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day. For more information, visit http://drik.net/gaza/.
