Another shaheed minar vandalised in Kushtia
Miscreants vandalised a shaheed minar in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia early today on the eve of the International Mother Language Day.
The incident took place on the premises of Mahendrapur High School, a day after a 46-year-old shaheed minar was vandalised at Jodubaira High School in the same upazila, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
Abdur Rahim Khan, headmaster of Mahendrapur High School, told The Daily Star that they found tops of two pillars partially damaged when students of the school went to place wreaths around 6:00am today.
Students, however, paid their homage to the language martyrs placing wreaths at the damaged shaheed minars, the headmaster added.
Confirming the incident, Lutfar Rahman, officer-on-charge (OC) of Kumarkhali Police Station, said police have picked up a nightguard of the school, Abul Kasem, for interrogation.
