Another girl raped in city
A girl was gang-raped in a microbus in the city on Tuesday, only 12 days after two girls fell prey to a rapist bus driver and his three assistants in Kamalapur.
Aged 19, the garment worker was forcibly picked up in the microbus in the city's Darus Salam around 10:00pm by three people, including her neighbour Farid, 35, who used to stalk her, the victim's aunt told The Daily Star.
The three violated her in the microbus and left her in the same area yesterday morning.
In the afternoon, the victim underwent a medical examination at the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. She will undergo forensic testing today, said OCC coordinator Bilkis Begum.
The girl wanted to sue the culprits, but her aunt prevented her for fear of social harassment, added Bilkis.
Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman of Mirpur Police Station said on information from journalists, he visited the victim at the hospital last night.
Law enforcers were trying to nab the culprits. A case will be filed with the police station in this connection after medical examinations of the victim, he added.
On June 20, two factory workers, aged 13 and 14, were gang-raped in Kamalapur after being trapped by the driver and helper of a bus they were travelling in.
