Another case against Mitford director, 4 interns
Ekushey Television (ETV) authorities have filed another case against director and four interns of Mitford Hospital on charges of snatching and damaging their equipments including two video cameras and a mobile phone during an attack on its journalists four days ago.
Md Zahidul Islam, director of the ETV, filed the case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka yesterday, Ibrahim Azad, chief news editor of the private TV channel, told The Daily Star today.
Director Brig Gen Zakir Hasan and four interns -- Shaheen, Shaon, Shoaib and Naim – have been made accused of smashing cameras, snatching mobile phones and money, and issuing death threats.
Equipment worth Tk 17 lakh was damaged during the attack, the case statement said.
Earlier on Sunday, the ETV director filed the first case against the five on charges of assaulting three reporters and three videographers.
Meanwhile, intern doctors are continuing their strike for the third day today in demand of withdrawal of the cases, terming those ‘false’.
“We shall intensify the strike if the cases are not withdrawn,” intern doctor Shaon Das told The Daily Star.
