An insight into urbanisation
A group art exhibition by Studio 48, titled “Lost in the Urban World” opened on May 31 at Dhaka Art Center.
Eminent artist Rafiqun Nabi was present as chief guest while Professor Abul Barq Alvi, Dean, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka was special guest. Artist and critic Mustafa Zaman gave unique insights into the exhibits.
Studio 48, an artist's collective, embarked on its journey in 2010 with 12 members. The collective's mission is to sharpen their creativity by an exchange of views, art camps, exhibitions, workshops and discussions.
“Lost in the Urban World” draws inspiration from the multifaceted problems of society, impacted by the dynamics of class, race, religion, gender, technology, history, globalisation and environment. Through this exhibition, the artists share their personal perspectives, experiences and insights in order to transform our view of urban living.
The participating artists are Fahmida Enam Kakoli, SM Ehsan, Monjur Rashid, Kuntal Barai, SM Muzahid Monir and Jahid Hasan.
The exhibition will remain open till June 5.
