Amnesty Int'l report ‘unexpected’: Inu
Terming the Amnesty International’s report on the ongoing blockade unexpected, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu today alleged that it tried to hide militancy in the report.
“We will ask the Amnesty International to prepare a report after getting into an issue properly,” the minister said.
“After reading their report, I assumed that it put the blame on the government,” Inu added.
The minister was talking on a report of the Amnesty International condemning Bangladesh government's move to use “excessive police force” for tackling the violence from the ongoing blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
The minister’s comments came at a meet-the-press organised by Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) this afternoon.
Inu, also the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Inu-led) President, branded BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia “villain” of the current politics in the country.
“We have to ignore her (Khaleda Zia), if we want to step towards peace and democracy,” he said.
