A Dhaka Court today sent BNP leaders Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Aman Ullah Aman to jail and granted a six-month bail to Mirza Abbas in a case filed for killing a Shibir man in the capital last year.
The case was filed with Rampura Police Station after Mansur Pradhania, 20, was killed in a clash between the activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, at Malibagh on December 29, 2013.
BNP standing committee members Mirza Abbas and Goyeshwar and the party’s joint secretary general Aman Ullah Aman surrendered before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-R-Rashid and sought bail.
Rejecting their bail petitions, the metropolitan magistrate sent Gayeshwar and Aman to jail.
The court however granted ad-interim bail to Mirza Abbas for six months on health ground.
Mansur was a law student at City University in Banani.
The law enforcers went on the action on December 29 last year after BNP-led 18-party alliance (now 19-party alliance) brought out a procession in support of BNP’s March for Democracy, which was set for that day. The government however foiled the programme by using excessive force later.
