‘AL to meet same fate if BNP rally obstructed’
The ruling Awami League will not be able to hold any rally in the country easily if it tries to hinder BNP programmes, a senior leader of the party threatened today.
“We along with the people will resist the Awami League’s political programmes on the streets at any cost,” BNP joint secretary general Rizvi Ahmed said while addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office this morning.
Rizvi issued the warning in response to AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif’s recent comments on BNP and its senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman.
While talking to reporters at AL party chief’s Dhanmondi office on Friday, Hanif said BNP will not be allowed to stage its political programme anywhere in the country if its senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman does not make apology for calling Sheikh Mujibur Rahman razakar.
Blaming the government for its inaction to rescue Jihad who fell into a deep well shaft in Shahjahanpur of Dhaka on Sunday, Rizvi said the four-year-old boy could have been rescued alive if the authorities showed a little more seriousness.
He called upon the party’s people to stay on streets tomorrow for making it countrywide hartal a success.
