AL shatters martyred intellectuals’ dream: BNP
BNP today alleged that ruling Awami League-led government has shattered the dream of the martyred intellectuals by annihilating democracy.
“The martyred intellectuals who had sacrificed their lives for the country had a dream of build a prosperous and democratic Bangladesh, but Awami League has spoilt their dream by annihilating democracy,” said BNP spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at the Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum at the city’s Mirpur.
Fakhrul, also the acting secretary general of BNP, said they are working hard together with people for restoring democracy.
He said they are on a democratic movement to realise people’s demand for restoring democracy and establish their rights. “Our movement will surely be successful as no democratic movement in the world never turned futile.”
The BNP leader alleged that the government has failed to contain extrajudicial killings, forced disappearances and state-sponsored terrorism.
“There has been extra-judicial killing and forced disappearance spree like that of 1971. As the current government is an unelected and illegal one, it has failed to stop these,” he further alleged.
