AL-BNP gunfight kills rickshaw-van puller in Noakhali

A rickshaw-van puller was killed and eight were injured today in a clash between the activists of the Awami League and BNP in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali.

Deceased Md ZabeR, 34, of Laxmipur lived in Sonaimuri upazila, said Abdus Samad, officer-in-charge of Sonaimuri Police Station.

The gunfight took place between the rival groups over establishing supremacy at Bashkipara village around 1:30pm, the OC told our Noakhali correspondent.

Zabed, who used a drive a van in Bashkipara area, died on the spot after sustaining bullets injuries during the clash, the police official said.

Eight activists from sides also were injured during the clash.

The injured were admitted to Noakhali Medical College and Hospital and local clinics.
