ACC asked to probe graft allegation against Iajuddin’s son
The High Court today directed the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate allegations against former president Iajuddin Ahmed’s son Imtiaz Ahmed of committing corruption in taking lease of Rajuk’s land near Kuril flyover in Dhaka.
The court also asked the ACC to investigate the irregularities allegedly committed by the then Estate officer of the east zone of Bangladesh Railway who gave the lease to Imtiaz in 2010.
The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha has brought the allegation against them before the HC during hearing on a writ petition.
The writ was filed in August 2010 challenging the action of Rajuk to evict Dhaka NCG and Fuel Filling Company Ltd from the land of Rajuk Purbachal new project near the Kuril flyover.
At today’s hearing, the HC bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Haque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain declared the Rajuk action of evicting the Dhaka NCG and Fuel Filling Company Ltd from the land legal.
The railway chief estate officer (east zone) had given the lease of the land to Imtiaz in January 2010 although he handed over the ownership of the company to Mahbubur Rahman, Mostafizur Rahman and Jasim Uddin in 2009.
Jasim Uddin lodged the writ petition with the HC in August 2010 challenging the Rajuk action to evict the company.
Rajuk removed the company structure on August 9, 10 and 11 in 2010 saying that the Rajuk is the owner of the land.
