8 vehicles torched in Dhaka, 4 districts
Miscreants torched eight vehicles in Dhaka and four other districts today on the 14th day of the nationwide nonstop blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
None was reports hurt in the arson attacks.
In Dhaka, a Janata Bank staff bus was set on fire in front of Madhumati Cinema Hall at Motijheel around 1:25pm, fire service sources said.
In another development, the blockade supporters torched a bus belonging to Bihanga Paribahan in Kalshi area around 8:30pm.
Miscreants set a bus ablaze in Kuliarchar upazila of Kishoreganj just after the midnight while two trucks and a bus were torched in Muljan upazila of Manikganj and Maizdar area of Narayanganj at 5:40am and 12:10pm respectively.
Our Chapainawabganj correspondent reports, a joint team of police and Rapid Action Battalion, in a nightlong drive, arrested 25 activists of BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami from different upazilas last night and early today.
Among them, 21 activists were arrested from Sadar upazila for plotting subversive activities or they are accused in different violence cases.
In Feni, alleged blockaders vandalised and torched two goods-laden trucks in Lalpool area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway, said Shahin-uz-Zaman, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Feni Model Police Station.
