7 vehicles torched in Sirajganj, Bogra
Miscreants set fire to seven vehicles including a bus in Sirajganj and Bogra today and last night during opposition's 83-hour countrywide blockade.
None hurt in the arson attacks.
Blockaders exploded four crude bombs in Bogra while law enforcers detained 13 opposition combine activists from different areas in the two districts for their alleged involvement with subversive activities, report our correspondents.
BNP-led 18-party opposition combine slated the countrywide blockade of roads, rail and waterways from 6:00am Saturday protesting the 10th parliamentary election schedule and demanding a non-party polls-time government.
SIRAJGANJ
Unidentified miscreants set fire to three trucks and a covered van at Bhuiyangati and Shahebganj areas in Salanga upazila around 3:00am, said Rashedul Islam, officer-in-charge of Salanga Police Station.
In another incident, miscreants also set fire to two more trucks at Sayedabad intersections on Sayedabad-Enayetpur road in Sadar upazila of the district around 11:00pm.
The joint forces also rounded up 11 activists of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, for their alleged involvement with the recent spate of violence, said Habibul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
The opposition men were detained during the ongoing drives at different areas of the district that started around 12midnight.
BOGRA
Blockaders hurled two patrol bombs at BRTC Bus Depot in Satmatha of Bogra town around 10:15am, Gaziur Rahman, said assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in Bogra.
The bus partially damaged in the explosion.
Police fired seven rubber bullets to disperse the blockaders when they exploded two crude bombs there, reports our Bogra correspondent quoting police.
Police detained two pro-blockade activists with two sharp weapons and a bottle of phensidyl.
