7 more held in deadly Tangail arson
Police last night arrested seven more people in connection with the killing of a woman along with her three daughters in Tangail.
The lawmen however are yet to arrest the prime suspect in the arson that killed the four early Wednesday, reports our Tangail correspondent.
Of the arrestees, six were sent to jail by a Tangail court this afternoon while the rest one was produced before the court with seven days’ remand prayer, said Saleh Mohammed Tanvir, Superintendent of Police in Tangail.
The arrestees are: Mir Azadul Islam, manager of Machhranga Filling Station in Mirzapur, its cashier Abul Basher, supervisor Wasim Miah, lineman Abdul Mannan, prime suspect Jahangir’s friend Susanto Kumar Roy, uncle Nannu Miah and cousin Badsa Miah.
Hasna Begum, 35, along with her three young daughters Monira Akter, 14, Meem Akter, 10, and Molly Akter, 7, was burnt alive when miscreants set fire to their house at Dakkhin Sohagpara village in Tangail.
Hasna's husband Mojibor Rahman is an expatriate in Malaysia.
The tragic incident happened around 2:00am because Monira refused to marry Jahangir Hossain, 25, to whom she was engaged three years ago, relatives and neighbours said.
Police and family members suspect Jahangir did it to avenge the rejection.
