56 cops transferred in Feni
Fifty-six policemen were transferred to different police stations in Feni, days after the gruesome killing of Phulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque.
The police, however, denied any link of the transfer to the murder, describing it as a routine work.
Ekram, who was also president of Phulgazi upazila Awami League, was shot and burned alive in his car in broad daylight on May 20.
The policemen include 18 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors. The rest are constables, Paritosh Gosh, superintendent of police in Feni.
He added that the transfer was part of their routine work, told our Feni correspondent.
A total of 26 policemen including six sub-inspectors, an assistant sub-inspector and 19 constables were transferred from Feni Sadar Model Police Station while two sub-inspectors and two constables were transferred from Phulgazi Police Station.
