Rapid Action Battalion arrested two human traffickers and rescued 50 people from Ukhia upazila of Cox's Bazar when the fortune seekers were being trafficked to Malaysia last night.

The arrestees are Rustam Ali and his son Md Kaiser of Sonaichhari village in the upazila, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent quoting Rashedul Alam, company commander of Rab-7.

Acting on a tip-off that a large number of people is being sent to Malaysia illegally through Ukhia upazila, a team of Rab raided Badamtoli area around 9:30pm and rescued the fortune seekers, the company commander said.

Based on information given by the rescued persons, the elite force members arrested Rustam Ali and his son from their Sonaichhari residence, adjacent to Badamtoli, later, the Rab official said.

The arrestees and the rescued people were handed over to Ukhia police later.
