BGB received intelligence of an organised effort to smuggle in the Yaba from Myanmar along Naf river, said Abuzer Al Jahid, commanding officer of 42nd BGB battalion.
On-patrol, troopers spotted a boat coming in from Myanmar in Acharbania area around 4:30am. “There were four people on the boat. They dived into the river and fled,” the BGB official said.
“50,000 pieces of Yaba pills worth around Tk 1.5 crore were found after searching the boat.”
Since no one was detained during the seizure, the Yaba tablets will be destroyed in presence of higher authorities, he told our Cox’s Bazar correspondent.
