5 Shibir men remanded
A Dhaka court today placed five activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, on a five-day remand in a case filed for keeping explosive items in their possession.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order after police produced them before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.
On Wednesday, police arrested the five Shibir activists including its Banani thana unit president along with 130 crude bombs from Mohakhali in Dhaka.
A team of Banani Police Station conducted the drive in TB gate area ahead of the 48-hour hartal of the BNP-led 20-party alliance that began at 6:00am yesterday.
They arrested Banani unit president Mustafizur Rahman and his four associates along with the bombs, one kilogramme of gunpowder, two litres of petrol, five kilogrammes of stone chips and three kilogrammes of multi-pointed nails.
