5 ‘Shibir’ men detained at RU
Police detained five alleged activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir this morning for bringing out processions on the campus defying a ban on political programmes.
All kind of rally and processions were banned on the campus since 2009 following a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Shibir, Alamgir Hossain, informs officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station.
Details about the detainees, all first year students, could not be known immediately, reports our RU correspondent.
The activists of Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, brought out a procession on the campus around 9:00am to welcome freshers, who started their classes at the university today.
Policemen barred the procession and picked up five men, the OC said.
