5 rescued while being trafficked to Malaysia, 1 held
Five Bangladeshi fortune seekers were rescued and a trafficker detained early today while preparing to sail for Malaysia illegally in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
The five rescued were identified as Md Jamin Uddin, 26, Didar Mia, 23, Md Amanul, 34, Md Belal Uddin, 27, and Md Monsur Alam, 30, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting a press release circulated from Bangladesh Navy.
The human trafficker was identified as Md Enamullah.
A team of Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a raid around 2:30am after receiving intelligence of a possible human trafficking underway, the press release said.
The human trafficker and the victims were from Cox’s Bazar. Coast Guards seized Tk 3.5 lakh from possession of the trafficker Enamullah.
