5 children hurt in Kushtia bomb blast
Five children including two siblings were injured as a crude bomb went off when they were playing at a rice mill ground in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia this afternoon.
The injured are: Bapi, 7, and Pappu, 2, sons of Anwar Hossain; Sakibur Rahman, 5, son of Selim Uddin; and Sifat Hasan, 6, son of Saidur Rahman of Bilshuka village.
Police and witnesses said the bomb, which was lying abandoned on the ground, went off suddenly around 2:30pm, leaving the five children injured, reports out Kushtia correspondent.
They were whisked off to the local upazila health complex from where Bapi and Pappu were shifted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
The duo received splinter injury in their hands, necks, chins and chests, health complex sources said.
Confirming the incident, Parvez Islam, officer-in-charge of Bheramara Police Station, said they are looking into the matter.
Upazila Nirbahi officer of Bheramara Reazul Karim and police visited the spot.
