45 teachers join training on 1st day in Rajshahi
Students fail to learn English language usefully, as teachers lack experience and meaningful lesson delivery techniques, speakers said at the inaugural session of a two-day teachers' training workshop in Rajshahi city yesterday.
The "English in Schools" (EIS) programme is designed to address this issue with an aim to making English learning more meaningful, enjoyable and accessible, they said.
Around 45 English teachers from 25 secondary schools of Rajshahi, Natore and Chapainawabganj districts are taking part in the sessions. Sponsored by Robi Axiata, the programme is being hosted by The Daily Star at Hotel Warison.
The Daily Star Managing Editor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, Robi Axiata Vice President Mohiuddin Babar, Rajshahi district education officer Kh Ruhul Amin, and EIS training consultant Mahfuzul Bari Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
Shireen Hasan, founder executive director, X-cel, Institute of Interactive Learning, and her team are conducting the training that includes sharing of opinions, and presentation and demonstration of lesson delivery techniques, among others.
