4 workers killed in Gazipur bridge collapse
At least four construction workers died and three others were injured when they were demolishing an old bridge at Gazipur early today.
The deceased are Huru Mia, Abu Bakkar, Azgar Ali and Shahjahan are hailed from Sherpur district, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
All the deceased are aged between 30 and 40 years, quoting Ahsan Ullah office-in-charge of the Kapasia Police Station reports Prothom Alo.
The injured workers were sent to Kapasia Upazila Health Complex. Details about them are yet to be known.
According to the sources, a group of construction workers were demolishing an old bridge at Barun village under Kapasia upazila to set up a new one at the same place.
Suddenly, the bridge collapsed on them at about 8:30 am on Thursday leaving at least four workers died on the spot, quoting sources Alauddin Ali, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Kapasia told our correspondent.
