4 NGO staff killed in Tangail road crash
Four staff of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) were killed when a truck rammed a car carrying them in Kalihati upazila of Tangail this morning.
The deceased are: car driver Mostofa Rahman and its passengers Hamidur Rahman, Mohammad Azimuddin and Mokhlesur Rahman, report our Tangail correspondent quoting Mohammad Akheruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station.
All of the deceased were staff of Ononna Somajkalyan Sangtha, an NGO of Pabna.
A northern region-bound pulse-laden truck hit a Dhaka-bound private car from Pabna in Jokarchar area on Bangabandhu Bridge connecting road around 7:20am, leaving four persons dead on the spot, the OC said.
The accident took place when the car driver was overtaking another truck, he added.
Informed by locals, a team from the police station recovered the bodies and sent those to Tangail Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene.
