4 held over Moghbazar mugging

Detectives have detained four alleged muggers on charges of looting Tk 31 lakh in broad daylight at Moghbazar in Dhaka last month.

Detective Branch of police nabbed them in overnight drives at different parts of Dhaka including Rampura and Gulistan area, an official of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media centre said seeking anonymity.

The arrestees are Abul Kalam Hawlader, Khalilur Rahman, Golam Sarowar and Nayan.

On August 19, muggers took away around Tk 31 lakh from five employees of a distributor of Akij Group after spraying them with bullets and blasting several crude bombs at Moghbazar. The employees also sustained injuries during the incident.

Details about the arrest will be revealed later at a press conference at DMP headquarters, the official said.
