4 crude bombs explode near Nasim’s dais
Four crude bombs went off near the stage of Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on the Salimullah Medical College premises in Dhaka.
The minister was present at the programme organised by Sandhani, a voluntary organisation, as chief guest.
Nasim was not injured in the blasts and the programme continued amid tightened security, Porikkhit Chowdhury, public relations officer of the health ministry, told The Daily Star.
He said two bombs exploded behind the dais while the two others in the front around 1:30pm.
Additional police personnel rushed to spot and beefed up the security.
Participants and students believe that the BNP supporters were behind the incident which took place on the ninth day of the countrywide nonstop blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
