3kg gold seized at Dhaka airport
Customs intelligence seized 30 gold bars weighing three kilograms from a passenger of Malaysian Airlines flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early today.
The officials detained the passenger, Saiham, after MS-196 carrying him landed at the airport from Malaysia around 11:45am, Moinul Khan, director general of custom intelligence at the airport, told The Daily Star.
While searching, the customs officials found the gold bars worth around Tk 1. 35 crore from inside his shoe around 12:10am, he said.
Saiham, hailed from Munshiganj, were handed over to police later, the official added.
