35pc of budget spent in six months
About 35 percent of the total budget was spent in the first half of the fiscal year, one percentage point more than the same period of fiscal 2012-13.
The total budgetary spending in the July-December period of fiscal 2013-14 was Tk 76,881 crore, of which Tk 61,412 crore came from the revenue budget.
The total revenue earnings during the period was Tk 64,715 crore, an increase of 8.1 percent year-on-year. The National Board of Revenue's receipts rose 8.2 percent and non-tax revenue 7.7 percent.
Development expenditure in the first half was Tk 15,469 crore, which is 23.48 percent of the total allocation.
Some Tk 5,981 crore of the Tk 15,433 crore subsidy allocation for agriculture, export, food and other sectors was spent in the first half.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith presented the developments in parliament yesterday, when he also revised down the country's economic growth target to 6.5 percent from 7.2 percent.
