35 hurt as AL, BNP clash in Feni
At least 35 people including 15 policemen were injured in a clash between the activists of ruling Awami League and opposition BNP in Parshuram upazila of Feni today.
Of the injured, 15 people were admitted to the upazila health complex and other private clinics, reports our Feni correspondent quoting Saiful Haque, additional superintendent of police in Feni.
The clash ensued around 11:00am between the activists of both the parties over a land dispute at Madhugram village, the police official said.
Several chases and counter chases took place between the parties that leaft at least 20 people including upazila unit BNP general secretary and also upazila chairman candidate Abu Taleb, 45, and vice-chairman candidate Mostafa Khokan, 32.
Police fired 85 rounds of gunshots and two teargas canisters to bring the situation under control and four motorbikes and the upazila BNP office were vandalised during the clash, the police official said.
Fifteen policemen including Sub-Inspector Badrul Kabir, 37, Assistant Sub-Inspector Amir Hossain, 25, were also injured in the clash.
