34 Bangladeshis held in Malaysia
Malaysian police today detained 77 foreign workers including 34 Bangladeshi citizens from a hotel project site in the country’s Jalan Teluk Kumbar area following a dispute between two Indonesians and a Bangladeshi on Tuesday.
The other arrestees are: 28 Indonesians and 15 Myanmar nationals including a woman.
The detainees, in their 20s and 30s, are workers at the project site, Malaysian English daily The Star reports quoting Barat Daya, chief police superintend of Lai Fah Hin district.
The detention was made for questioning them over the incident, the police officer added.
The trio involved in the fight sustained injuries on the head, hand and body, and were sent to Penang Hospital for treatment.
However, Bangladesh high commission in Kuala Lumpur could not be reached immediately for comments about the incident.
