3 killed in Cox’s Bazar road accident

At least three people were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway at Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

Salauddin, 35, son of Kabir Ahmed of Boroitoli village in Chakaria upazila; and Sarwar Alam, 22, son of Monjur Ali of Shilkhali village in Tekua upazila -- died on the spot, reports our Cox’s Bazaar correspondent.

Another youth, 22, who succumbed to his injuries at Chokoria Health Complex, could not be identified immediately, quoting Provash Chandra Dhar, officer-in-charge of Chakaria Police Station reports the correspondent.

The accident took place around 4:00pm when the bus of Shah Amin Paribahan and the microbus collided head-on at Bhandarir Depa area of Harbang union under the upazila, the police official added.

The wounded have been admitted to Chakaria Health Complex, the OC said, adding that police also seized both vehicles.
