3 get 'Yes' cards in Mymensingh round
Three people received “Yes” cards in the audition rounds for the Rupchanda-Daily Star Super Chef 2015 held at a hotel in Mymensingh yesterday.
A total of 45 participants took part in the written stage for the auditions. The participants had to answer 50 multiple choice questions on the art of cooking. Twelve competitors qualified for the next stage, which was a cook-off.
The selected 12 then battled in the cook-off in two groups, preparing balanced and delicious dishes to impress the judges.
Dr Abdullah Al Bari, an associate professor, and college students -- Sabrina Khan and Zahidul Islam -- were the recipients of the “Yes” card. They will compete in the final round of the competition to be held in the capital.
Bari said during his stay in the US, he learnt to cook a lot of traditional and foreign dishes.
“I wanted to see if my lessons would pay off,” an ecstatic Bari said.
Sabrina Khan and Zahidul Islam both agreed that they would use this competition to chase their passion for cooking.
Sakinoor Arabi and Afsana Noor, participants who did not qualify, said they were disappointed that they did not qualify, but were resolved to try again should another opportunity arise.
The 12, who competed in the second round, received certificates.
Anwara Sultana and Mahbuba Khan were the judges for the audition round. They said the participants made it difficult for them to take their decision as they all prepared brilliant dishes.
