A government-formed committee investigating the seven murders in Narayanganj today quizzed Maj (retd) Arif, one of the three sacked Rab officers, at the gate of Dhaka Central Jail.
The committee members led by Shahjahan Ali Molla, additional secretary of the public administration, went to the jail gate around 11:00am, Jail Superintendent Forman Ali told The Daily Star.
Seeking anonymity, a member of the committee told The Daily Star that they went there to interrogate the three sacked Rab officers but failed due to shortage of time.
"We have interrogated major Arif and the rest two will be quizzed tomorrow (Wednesday) for their alleged involvement in the sensational Narayanganj seven-murder," he said.
The three Rab officials -- Commanding Officer of Rab-11 Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Maj Arif Hossain and Lt Commander SM Masud Rana -- were sent to forced retirement on May 6 after their alleged involvement with the abduction and killing of the seven people came to light.
On April 27, Narayanganj city mayor Nazrul Islam and his four aides and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were kidnapped from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road around the same time in broad daylight.
The other victims are Swapan, Tajul Islam, Liton, Jahangir and Ibrahim.
The government formed the seven-member probe committee to investigate the abduction and killings in line with a High Court order.
