3 buses torched in Dhaka
Alleged pickets set three buses on fire at different parts of the capital Dhaka today during the countrywide hartal enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
A bus of Prochesta Paribahan was torched in Malibagh Chowdhurypara area around 7:10am, a duty officer at Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters said.
The miscreants set fire to a bus parked at Gabtoli in Dhaka this afternoon shortly after the BNP-led 20-party alliance extended its countrywide hartal till 6:00pm on Thursday.
The bus was torched near the Gabtoli cattle market around 4:30pm, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Darussalam Police Station, told The Daily Star.
There was no report of causality in the incident as locals doused the blaze immediately, the OC added.
Meanwhile, another passenger bus was torched by miscreants on the Airport Road near the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this evening.
The arson incident took place around 7:10pm, sources at Fire Service and Civil Defence said.
The bus was burnt down entirely before the firefighters reached the stop, Selim Mia, a senior station officer at Tongi fire service station, told The Daily Star.
