15 shops burn down in Chandpur fire

Some 15 shops burned down in a devastating fire that broke out at Dumuria Bazar in Kachua upazila on Thursday.Local people said an electrical short-circuit at a shop sparked off the fire, which soon engulfed adjacent shops. Fire fighters brought the blaze under control after one hour of frantic efforts with the help of local people. The shop owners estimated the loss at about Tk 50 lakh.
