Trade thru' Benapole port comes to a halt

Hundreds of trucks loaded with goods from India remained stranded on the border following the suspension of export and import activities through Benapole land port yesterday. The CITU, a labour organisation of India's West Bengal, called for a halt to the trade through the Benapole-Petrapole ports to realise their 12-point demand. Meanwhile, two passenger buses running on the Dhaka-Calcutta route entered Bangladesh from India with police protection.
