Charges framed against Shajahan Siraj, wife, son

A special court yesterday framed charges against former BNP minister Shajahan Siraj, his wife Rabeya Siraj and son Rajib Siraj for evading income tax.The accused family, facing 11 income-tax cases filed by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), will be tried in absentia as they remained fugitive, court sources said. After framing charges, Judge Begum Shamsunnahar fixed today for commencing their trial with testifying by the prosecution witnesses. Meanwhile, another two special courts set August 12 for framing charges in connection with tax-dodging cases filed against detained ex-minister Mirza Abbas, former state minister Amanullah Aman and detained ex-BNP lawmaker Salahuddin Ahmed.
