Directive to demolish illegal structures in DND area

Local Government and Rural Development Adviser M Anwarul Iqbal yesterday asked the authorities concerned to demolish all the illegal structures in DND area to reclaim canals from land grabbers.He made the directive while visiting a pump house of Water Development Board at Shimrail in Narayanganj Sadar upazila. He said all the illegal structures would have to be demolished immediately to remove stagnant water and keep the sewerage system functional. Anwarul Iqbal also directed them to set nets on both the sides of the canals so that the wastes could not create obstacles in pumping out water. The adviser warned that the officials who will be found responsible for public sufferings would face punitive actions.
