AL leader held in Rangpur

Police yesterday morning arrested an Awami League (AL) leader from Pirganj Press Club where he was observing a hunger strike demanding release of party chief Sheikh Hasina, police said.Pirganj Police Station officer-in-charge Mokbul Hossain said, Panchgachhi union AL president Nazimuddin was arrested at about 11:00 am for violating emergency rules. Police also seized a banner during his arrest. Najimuddin was sent to Rangpur jail in the afternoon after producing him before a court here.
