24 youths held at ZIA

Immigration police arrested 24 youths at Zia International Airport (ZIA) yesterday when they were going to Iran via Delhi and Kabul on tourist visas.

Immigration police said they arrested the youths alleging a link with the militants since they need to go Iran via Kabul.

The youths, all aged between 20 and 25, were supposed to leave the ZIA in a Delhi-bound GMG airliner at 10:30am.

Immigration police after a long interrogation at the airport handed them over to Airport Police Station at 8:00pm.

Police said they are investigating whether the youths have any connection with militancy or just going abroad in pursuit of a better fortune.

"During interrogation all the arrestees said that they were going in search of job abroad," Officer-in-Charge of Airport Police Station Ruhul Amin told The Daily Star.

The youths said that they were going to Iran via Kabul as the manpower agents were sending them through this route.
